At Urangan State High School, we aim to develop lifelong learners who are innovative and confident users of technology in an ever-changing digital world. Technology is a driving force in the world today and introduces some remarkable opportunities for schools to redefine teaching and learning.  For that purpose, Urangan State High School supports a bring-your-own iPad program.  Our school's pedagogy and curriculum is designed with the iPad as the central learning tool for both students and teachers.  Teachers will use them as an environment to facilitate deeper engagement in the learning process, access higher order thinking skills and accelerate student-driven learning.

Curriculum

Our goal is for students to use iPads as a tool to support key processes in learning.  Teachers use them as an environment to facilitate deeper engagement in learning and higher-order thinking.  The iPad has varied functionality to allow students to consume and produce information in a mobile form through:

  • textbooks available on the iPad
  • a range of classroom apps and tools - see Apps list under Related Links
  • 24/7 access to resources
During lessons where visual media tools are being used (eg recording a science experiment) students may be projecting their work through air play systems such as Apple TV.
