East Coast TAFE presents some great opportunities for those students who know what they want to study and are focused on their career goals.
The TAFE in Schools program allows students to study their chosen vocational field, obtain structured work placement in their field of study, as well as work towards attaining their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) at the end of Year 12.
Students are not required to attend school on their allocated TAFE day.
Students study five subjects taught by Urangan State High School teachers at the Urangan State High School campus in Robert Street four days per week. Students also study a trade certificate through East Coast TAFE - RTO # 0418 one day per week on the East Coast TAFE campus in Urraween Road. Students are not required to attend school on their allocated TAFE day.
See TAFE in Schools Program website for details of courses available.
The East Coast TAFE campus provides a learning environment where students are treated with the maturity and respect of a tertiary learning institution. The classes are taught by an innovative group of progressively minded teachers dedicated to helping students become forward thinking young adults. The TAFE teachers have teaching and industry qualifications (they know their subject and how it relates to the modern working world) giving students an “insider's advantage" when they reach the workforce.
Students participating in a TAFE in School program benefit from the advantage of having a close relationship with their vocational teachers and the industry standard facilities located at the campus. These facilities include a fully operational gym, fitness centre, hairdressing salon, beauty salon, commercial kitchens, and restaurant and construction workshops.
