In Year 7 English, students strengthen the skills that turn everyday communication into clear and confident expression. Guided by the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0, they explore novels, poetry, short stories and media texts while learning how language shapes meaning and influences audiences. Students move beyond simply reading and writing to analysing ideas, asking questions and communicating with purpose.
They practise planning and refining their writing, build grammar and vocabulary skills, and develop confidence in speaking and listening. Most importantly, Year 7 English is about growth—helping students find their voice, think critically and communicate effectively, skills that matter both in school and in life beyond it.

Year 7 ACE English
Year 7 ACE English builds strong foundations while extending students into deeper literary analysis and more sophisticated expression. Students explore rich and challenging texts, examining how authors use structure, imagery and language choices to shape meaning and influence readers. Extension focuses on developing paragraph writing, embedding evidence fluently, and experimenting with more complex sentence structures and vocabulary. Students are encouraged to read widely, think critically and begin crafting responses that move beyond retelling toward thoughtful interpretation.
