Year 7 Mathematics builds strong foundations and confidence with numbers. Students work with whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages, and apply these skills to real-life situations such as money, measurement and everyday problem-solving. They begin learning algebra through patterns and simple formulas, and explore area, volume, angles, data and probability.
The focus is on clear thinking, accuracy and choosing effective strategies. By the end of the year, students are more confident using mathematics to solve practical problems.

| Unit 2: Algebra 1 Students will be investigating algebraic expressions and equations, solving linear equations and using algebraic expressions to represent different situations. Unit 3: Algebra 2 and Space
Students will continue to build on their algebra knowledge and apply it to the Cartesian plane and moving objects around 2D space. Statistics

Unit 4: Measurement and Space Students will investigate relationships between angles and parallel lines. Students will be introduced circle properties and calculations. Students will have to design and test algorithms to sort and classify polygons. Probability Students will conduct probability experiments and interpret results and give reasons for the difference between predictions and observations.
