Our future students were adorning many colours of the rainbow as they proudly wore their primary school uniforms and as watched the Year 8 students perform on stage, welcoming them to Urangan State High School, during our UTransition day, 28th November. Students were immersed in a typical day of life at Urangan State High School.
They started off with a year level parade meeting form teachers, the Year Level Managers (Ms Julia Saunders and Mrs Janelle Birgan), the Head of Year (Ms Clare Stroud) and our Principal (Mr Tony McCormack); treated to a couple of drama performances from our Year 8 students and welcomed into the Urangan State High School through a welcoming video created by our 2023 Year 9 Junior leaders. They were then divided into groups and went off into the school to attend their first class of the day. Students engaged in Physical Education, Maths, Humanities and relationship activities, getting to know their peers and teachers. Ted the Therapy dog meet most of the students during the day. We can't wait to see our students wearing red on 23rd January, as they come together officially as Urangan State High Schools 2023 Year 7s.
Ms Stroud has a three day Year 7 induction planned (Monday 23rd – Wednesday 25th January), to set students up with the knowledge and skills they need to start off successfully. Year 7 students are to meet at the Gym at 9:55am on Monday 23rd January. Teachers will sort students into form classes and hand out timetables. For the next three days, students will be inducted into Urangan State High School.
Students need to bring their ipad fully charged, a pen, a couple of books and any other personal items they require ie lunch or money to purchase from the school canteen etc. The P & C sponsors a free hat for every new enrolment and these will be handed out on the first day.
