As part of our commitment to empowering a community of curious learners, creative thinkers, and connected humans, 2024 will see the reinvigoration of our existing Good Standing Policy (see quicklinks -->), as well as the introduction of an expanded House Spirit competition.
In consultation with our students and community, we believe that the notion of good standing supports all students to strive for respectful behaviour in all that they do, demonstrating the respectful actions underpinned by our expectations of Respect others, Respect myself, and Respect the environment. All students will commence each year with good standing; students who consistently demonstrate successful outcomes and meet the high standards expected to achieve their best are rewarded with the freedoms to participate and engage in all facets of school and ultimately maintain their good standing.
Combined, the good standing policy and house spirit competition are strategies aimed at challenging our students to attain their very best, every minute, of every day in 2024. Our House Spirit competition will initially start off with five categories for our students to focus on;
- Attendance;
- Engagement (in the classroom);
- Citizenship;
- Academics; and
- Respectful actions.
We look forward to regularly updating our community with reports on which house is leading the way and who is winning rewards throughout the year. Students will also be able to keep track of their house progress via live updates on the display outside the Canteen. There will be a range of rewards and activities at the house, form class, and individual level as we celebrate our student's achievements and make everyday count at Urangan State High School in 2024.
